At 40

Let it be that I've reached 40
Lived as best circumstances will allow.
Blame nothing on no one about what matters;
Measured things up to see if I should scream or bow.
Gifts received from the Cosmic Consciousness,
Leaves me standing with hang-ups that are trivial.
I now have a conscience that measures the depth of living,
Smile, cry, win, lose, they will be measured but I'll walk away.
